Slentiva (tm), PCOS and Appetite Regulation
Some women with polycystic ovary syndrome have an unbalanced hunger mechanism that causes them to eat too much food. Part of the mechanism is a hunger-regulated hormone called cholecystokinin (CCK).
Cholecystokinin (CCK) is a hormone secreted in the gastrointestinal tract when you eat a meal. It slows down the digestive process and functions as a short-term satiety signal to inhibit food intake and thus decrease meal size. "Satiety" means a feeling of fullness or satisfaction.
However, some women with PCOS have reduced CCK secretion after a meal and deranged appetite regulation. Impaired CCK secretion may play a role in the greater frequency of binge eating and overweight in women with PCOS.(12)
What Is Slentiva and How Does It Work?
Slentiva (tm) is a chocolate-flavored soft chew that helps to manage feelings of hunger. It is formulated to enhance satiety (feeling full or satisfied) and help you feel more full for a longer period of time.
Slentiva contains an ingredient that beneficially influences the release of cholecystokinin (CCK) levels through its action as a proteinase inhibitor II (PI2).

Slentiva supplies a natural potato protein extract from potato peels that is produced via a patented process.
One dose of Slentiva before a meal supplies as much potato protein extract as found in four potatoes, which may help you feel more full faster and for a longer period of time, as well as support a healthy glucose response.
The manufacturer of Slentiva reports that at least 15 human clinical studies have demonstrated PI2 to be beneficial for one or more of the following PCOS-related issues:
- CCK (cholecystokinin - a hunger control hormone)
- Hunger (promotes feelings of fullness sooner, and for a longer period of time)
- Satiety (feeling of satisfaction or fullness)
- Glucose (blood sugar)
- Weight loss.
Slentiva may help you manage your feelings of hunger within 60 minutes. Also, some have reported feeling a decreased desire to eat and an increased sense of fullness for more than two hours after consuming Slentiva’s active ingredient.
Consider taking Slentiva if you have an issue with excessive appetite and hunger or if you have a tendency to overeat.
Slentiva is appropriate for either short-term use, or as part of an ongoing health rebuilding program.
Is Slentiva safe?
In addition to its strong track record of efficacy, Slentiva has an excellent safety profile. No serious adverse effects of the active ingredient have been reported in the 15 human clinical studies.
In addition to its active ingredients, Slentiva contains maltitol, a sweetener derived from corn. Maltitol is better than table sugar because it has fewer calories and does not promote tooth decay. However, consumed in excess, maltitol may cause some mild GI discomfort in some people.
Some dietary supplements for hunger management contain high amounts of herbal stimulants, caffeine, phenylpropranolamine, or other ingredients with potential adverse effects. As a safer option, Slentiva supplies a natural potato peel extract that has been repeatedly demonstrated free of serious adverse effects.
How Much Should You Take?
A good starting point is one chew daily 30 to 60 minutes prior to your largest meal.
The potency of the potato protein extract in Slentiva allows for effectiveness with just one chew daily.
But if extra support is needed, consider Slentiva twice daily (one chew 30 to 60 minutes prior to the two largest meals).
There is no need to have more than 2 chews daily because studies have shown there is almost no added benefit from consuming more than 2 chews. In addition, over a certain level, you could have a mild GI sensitivity to the maltitol sweetener in the product.
