Why Me??

by Rose

Hi, ever since I started my period at 12 years old, they have never been regular. I would have periods that lasted 3 months and go 6 months without a period. Just all crazy.

Around age 15 I was diagnosed with PCOS. I am 28, now married and have 2 beautiful children.

I also, like many, had to change my diet and lose weight.

It took me about 5 years to conceive my first. For a couple of years I took Clomid but it didn't work. Then the doctor was going to send me to a fertility center but because it is expensive and I had no health insurance, I didn't do it.

Then years later, the doctor put me on metformin and I got pregnant. I took metformin for about 6 months. My second child is also a metformin baby.

Miracles happen and God's timing is perfect. Don't lose hope; it will happen when the time is right. I hope this can help someone out there.

Rose

I was shocked and totally depressed. So thank you so much for your encouragement!

Alternatives to Metformin
by: PCOS Editor

Thanks for your story, Rose! And congrats on starting your family.

Metformin can be a very useful medication for polycystic ovary syndrome. But some women can't tolerate its side effects on the GI tract. If someone cannot tolerate metformin, there are a couple of nutritional supplements that may be nearly as effective as metformin.

They are berberine extract and NAC.

These and other products that are helpful for managing PCOS are available in our online store.

We would also strongly advise everyone who has an issue with ovulation to get a vitamin D test. An optimal level of vitamin D may be just the thing that is needed to get a period.
