My Success Story with PCOS & Pregnancy
(Bronx, NY)
Since I was a teenager I've always suffered from irregular periods.
My mom took me to several doctors and their only solution was "the pill", but after years of being on the pill I did my own research and found out about PCOS on my own!
I switched OB/GYN and found a new one in 2007 which started explaining to me about eating right and healthy.
I was told I should try to lose 20-20lbs and so I was put on Metformin to help with the weight. After 2 months on Metformin, minus 20 lb, I got pregnant - however, my husband and I had been trying to conceive for a year.
So...I'm currently 8 1/2 months pregnant with a baby girl and am still shocked at the fact that I was able to conceive in such short a time and have had a healthy pregnancy!
Good luck to all of those that have been trying to conceive or simply overcome PCOS. There is hope out there - just stay positive!

Congrats! We hope you'll post a photo of your future new baby. :-)
Metformin is definitely more effective when it is combined with a healthier diet and increased exercise.
Metformin is used for reducing insulin resistance that is associated with PCOS. The D-pinitol formula is also helpful for reducing insulin resistance.
Even a modest weight loss of 5% or so can substantially increase a woman's fertility. The big advantage of an optimal diet and regular exercise is that you bring your fat weight under control. Your fat tissues product a lot of undesirable hormones and other signaling molecules. So….as soon as you lose a significant amount of fat (not muscle), your hormones will shift into a better state of balance, in spite of polycystic ovary syndrome.
