Lose Weight to Fight PCOS

by Angel
(India)

Hi, I was diagnosed with PCOS in Dec 2012. I had symptoms like irregular periods, weight gain.

I was told that with PCOS it's difficult to get pregnant with PCOS so I was worried.

I changed the doctor and told her my worries, she said NO, even with PCO you can get pregnant. It was such a relief to hear her say these words.

So she gave me Glucophage (metformin) and folic acid tablets and said come after 6weeks for routine checkup. (I didn't have my periods for last 2months when I went to the doctor for the first time. When I didn't had my period on my third month I was even more worried and thought that this time she might ask me to take other medications.

But to my surprise, when I went she said let us check if you are pregnant, I still had doubt in my mind if I will be pregnant. But then after she checked it was confirmed that I was 1 month pregnant. Now I am two and a half month pregnant and it's going great.

Best way to get pregnant to lose weight. Your weight should be proportionate to your height, so check if your weight is more than your height. Try to lose weight and get pregnant in better and healthy way.

I lost 5kgs that I believe helped me get pregnant.

Have a nice day!

Loss of Belly Fat Increases Fertility and More
by: PCOS Editor

Hi Angel,

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

All the medical studies show that weight loss is associated with increased ability to ovulate and become pregnant. However, what a person should focus on is losing abdominal fat weight. Therefore, waist circumference is a better measure of success than the ratio of height to weight. It's the abdominal fat that contributes to the numerous signs and symptoms of polycystic ovary syndrome.
