Hello, my name is Nancy Dunne, N.D. I’m a licensed primary care physician in the state of Montana. My specialty is the use of natural medicine to improve the health of my patients.

Over the past few years, PCOS and ovarian cysts have become especially relevant to me. My 22-year-old daughter's menstrual difficulties and persistent acne have been diagnosed as aspects of polycystic ovary syndrome. This disturbing discovery galvanized me to do research in order to create a safe, effective treatment plan for her. The success we’ve had with her treatment has been so exciting, and my research has so fascinated me, that I’m now reaching out to other women. I want to share my experiences treating PCOS and its accompanying difficulties by using natural therapies.

Most chronic health problems, including polycystic ovary syndrome and ovarian cysts, result from complex combinations of inherited genetic susceptibility and controllable environmental factors -- including biochemical, nutritional, behavioral and psychological factors.

There is a lot you can do to prevent or minimize polycystic ovary syndrome and ovarian cysts, even if you were born with a genetic tendency to develop cystic ovaries. You can't change the genes you inherited. But you can change how your genetic program is expressed. By learning what behaviors in your daily life affect your internal chemistry, you can choose to favorably alter these effects and minimize or possibly eliminate polycystic ovarian syndrome and ovarian cysts.

Oral contraceptives, anti-androgens, and insulin-sensitizing agents like metformin can be useful for some women. But they don’t restore your health. They don’t remove the underlying cause of your health problems and cystic ovaries. Like all pharmaceutical products, they also have potentially undesirable side effects.

Based on more than a decade of clinical experience with natural medicine and women's health issues, and my current focus on PCOS, I've developed a holistic approach for identifying and correcting the controllable factors that cause polycystic ovarian syndrome.

One of the controllable factors for polycystic ovary syndrome and infertility is to eat a very healthy diet. I have just co-authored a comprehensive book, The Natural Diet Solution for PCOS and Infertility.
