when I was first diagnosed, around the same age you were (I'm 16 right now) I was just as depressed as you were. I had the facial hair problem. I was gaining pounds at a time. And I wasn't doing the best that I should have with dieting and exercising. I've been taken Metformin for almost 6 months, and unfortunately it hasn't been affecting me as much I would hope... but I'm sure it would if I worked out more. But, to help my self esteem through this hard time I did finally do some research and asked my mom if I could get laser hair removal. Depending on where you get it done, it doesn't have to be all that expensive, and health insurance can help if you have it. I really hope you fight this. It is a long-term syndrome, but it doesn't have to be a huge part of your life. Good luck :)

DON 'T GIVE UP!
by: Anonymous

Get to the doctor! get on metformin and spironolactone! You are depressed! do not give up! this will get better if you get medicine. I had depression too but now I am on meds and eat less junk. Guess what I feel better. The second med will help lessen hair. You need laser treatments for the hair eventually. Please go to see m.ds until you get somebody to listen to you. You should have blood drawn for Dhea and testosterone. The kind of doctor to see is an a specialist. SEE AN ENDOCRINOLOGIST NOW
